Anyone else had issues with the Mag Catch ? I've had to bodge a resin bit onto mine to make it actually work and hold the mag in. There was a thread on here a while ago but we never worked out a way of actually fixing the problem.

Are you making any more of these? I'd be interested as I've had to use tape to keep my KA mid caps in :(

Has anyone had any joy fixing the stock wobble?

I'd like to not hijack this thread. Can we continue in the other thread?

Also, I made a start on my MP40 yesterday (based on your previous thread), and found the Ver3 silent head was loose on the end of the original piston...

Any ideas on this - I was hoping to work on it this weekend.

Just finished mine, using all the parts you listed. Very pleased with accuracy and performance. :happyswing:
Couple of things I did notice was;
1. The bearings would not stay in the gearbox casing, but after 'shimming' worked fine apart from...
2. I don't now the proper name for it, but the 'quadrant' gear that actually moves the piston. It seems to me that there is a spacer missing on mine. Should there be a spacer where the long part of the tappet plate engages the gear shaft? Looking at the mechbox vid the gear shaft on that is 'stepped'. I have overcome this by placing one of the original nylon bushings in back to front to act as a spacer. Everthing is now about right, not too loose and the gearbox seems to function fine.

Yes there normally is a brass collar. XYT gears have a very loose collar that goes walkies at every opportunity. I'll get that trigger mod up soon. I'm just a bit busy with sorting my wedding out atm (only 4 weeks to go!)

Glad your happy with the result btw

Usually called the "sector gear", so you were very close. :good:

Having a few problems with the King Arms mid caps. All the low cap MP40 mags I have function flawlessly in the upgraded '40. However, when I tested a couple of the mid caps it was a bit 'hit & miss' On full auto it fired a few then nothing then it fired a few more. I was wondering if this was due to the ak hop unit not being fixed and the slightly mis-sized nature of the king arms mags. Could they be forcing the ak hop up, or out of postition when you load the mag into the weapon?
Have you experienced any problems like this?
The mid caps work fine in my sten, and until the upgrade in the MP40 just required a 'whack' to get them in and they functioned fine there as well.

Regarding the feedholes on the KA magazines - they were a tight fit on my MP40 but just too tight to go on my AGM adjustable hop Sten. So I had to counter sink the feed holes on the KA magazines.

If you compare the feedholes with the AGM magazines you will see that the feed holes on the AGM magazines are quite a bit larger in diameter.

Maybe worth trying on one and seeing if it makes a difference.

Im fixing a MP40 for a friend, full gearbox rebuild (old one was a mess :( ) its already had the AK hop mod done but needs some adjustment :)

cheers
